About
This blog concerns the poet and memoirist Siegfried Sassoon (1886–1967) and the collections of his manuscripts and papers held in Cambridge University Library. In particular it will give news about the cataloguing of the Sassoon archive acquired by the Library in 2009, and the exhibition being held to celebrate its arrival, ‘Dream Voices: Siegfried Sassoon, Memory and War’.
Zoe is the project cataloguer who will be working on the construction of the online catalogue over the next twenty months or so.
John is curating the Library’s exhibition ‘Dream Voices: Siegfried Sassoon, Memory and War’, opening in July 2010.

Hello, very interesting blog. I’d be curious to know if you have any references amongst the materials to my relation, an AV Ratcliffe? He was a lieutenant in the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales’s Own), killed on the first day of the Somme attacking Fricourt.
He was also a Cambridge man, a minor war poet, and a friend of Rupert Brooke’s. I’ve come across some some indications that he knew Sassoon, who apparently witnessed the attack in which he was killed. Any pointers much appreciated!
